Hype was Well-Deserved

I have heard the buzz on Tao Yuan Restaurant in Malate.  I also found out they opened a second branch in Resorts World Manila (RWM).  While there was a myriad of restaurant options in RWM to choose from, I decided to explore what the fuss was all about.  Tao Yuan passed with flying colors.

Tao Yuan is located in RWM across the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 3.  It is bounded by the main thoroughfares EDSA and the South Luzon Expressway. 

 


 
The place is usually packed on a daily basis.  Surprisingly, it was not busy when we dropped by without prior reservation on a weekday lunchtime.

Inside Tao Yuan

We ordered Singapore Chili Crab (P1,800 per kilo),  Fried Spareribs with Garlic (P338), Sliced Beef with Brocolli (P388), Roast Crispy Pork Belly (P338) and Singapore Char Kway Teow (P328).  All orders were full of flavor and scrumptious, but the standout was clearly the King Crab.  It was fattened to perfection while the sauce was spicy enough without overpowering the taste buds.

I did not order Hainanese Chicken Rice since I am not a fan of the dish.  But I read Tao Yuan can rival Wee Nam Kee in that regard.  Your thoughts?

I suggest you make reservations first before hopping over to Tao Yuan.  The waiting time could be excruciatingly long.

Best Singaporean food in Manila?  You be the judge.  Let me know your opinions.

Tao Yuan has superb laksa.

Hi Gina. Thanks for the suggestion. I was not able to try Laksa. I’ll order that when I treat my balikbayan friend from Singapore later in the year.
